Schedule

 Day 01Arrive into Cairo, transfer to hotel
Upon arrival our staff will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for the start of your trip. They will help you settle in, introduce you to the local area, and explain tomorrow's arrangements 

Day 02Cairo, Pyramids & Saqqara tour
Our tour of Egypt starts with a visit to the Giza Plateau, home of Egypt's world famous Great Pyramids, proclaimed by the Greeks to be among the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. We visit the great Pyramids of Giza (khofu) and their guardian Sphinx and riding camel, Memphis-first capital of the ancient kingdom Sakkara to see the Step pyramid 

Day 03Cairo , Egyptian Museum , Coptic & Islamic old Cairo
We start our tour of Cairo with a visit to the Egyptian Museum, the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. Accompanied by your certified Egyptologist, you'll stroll through the halls highlighting each historical period of this ancient land. This afternoon we will discover Cairo's old hanging church in Coptic Cairo (hanging church), visit the Citadel  & mosque of Mohamed Ali overlooking the city , and explore the narrow streets Cairo

This evening we transfer to the station for the overnight sleeper train to Aswan (approx. 9 hours).

 Day 04Luxor, East bank tour, Luxor temple
This morning after we arrive to Luxor to Luxor. We begin our tour of the West Bank of the Nile starting at the Colossi of Memnon we then get to explore the dusty Pharaonic tombs located at the world famous Valley of the Kings. We also visit the Temple of Queen Hatchepsut before crossing back into Luxor. Your afternoon is free to relax on board your 5-star Nile cruise boat . In the evening we take a walking tour of the beautiful Luxor Temple which is spectacularly lit up at night.

 Day 05Luxor,  Luxor, temple
This morning you have the chance(optional tour) to take a spectacular sunrise hot air balloon flight over the West bank of the Nile. After breakfast, our tour of Luxor today is to the huge temple complex of Karnak which features towering columns and numerous temples and structures - rightly justifying Luxor's reputation as the largest open air museum in the world! In the afternoon the boat starts sailing up the Nile, through the lock at Esna and on to Edfu where we overnight.

Note: Nile cruise boat itineraries are subject to slight alterations en-route)

 Day 06Edfu Temple & Kom Ombo
After breakfast we visit the nearby Edfu Temple which is dedicated to the god Horus. We then continue upriver towards Kom Ombo, watching traditional rural Egyptian life pass us by on the banks of the Nile. You may want to enjoy a relaxing soak in the plunge pool on the boat's sun deck. At Kom Omombo we tour the temple which sits scenicly by the banks of the Nile and is home to mummified crocodiles amongst other things! The cruise then continues onwards to Aswan. 

Day 07Philae Temple & Aswan Dam Nubian Village
start our tour of Aswan with a trip to the island temple complex of Philae visiting the impressive Aswan High Dam en-route. The Philae temple remains one of Egypt's most romantic and picturesque sites having been completely relocated following work on the Dam. The rest of the day we will enjoy our time in the essential oil palace then we will explore the colorful spicy shop and markets found in the town 

Day 08Abu Simbel overland  Aswan, – Cairo
Optional today to start very early driving to Abu simple to visit The Abu Simbel temples it is two massive rock temples at Abu Simbel, near the border with Sudan. They are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 230 km southwest of Aswan. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Nubian Monuments", which run from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae. The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside in the 13th century BC, during the 19th dynasty reign of the Pharaoh Ramsess

This evening we transfer to the station for the overnight sleeper train to Aswan (approx. 12 hours).

 Day 09Cairo, optional tours
We arrive back into Cairo this morning and transfer to our hotel. Most of the day is free then to explore Cairo as you choose or you may take an optional tour. A day tour to Dashour and Memphis to learn more about the history and evolution of pyramid building..

In the late afternoon we take a guided walk through the back streets and bazaars in central Cairo. We'll walk through the huge Bab al-Futuh gateway and explore streets dedicated to metalwork, , returning to our hotel.

 Day 10Cairo, departure
Your time is free today until we transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. Extensions are available to add onto the end of the tour to spend some time by the Red Sea, add some day trips to Alexandria.
